Well having passions and being ruled by them are differnt things. Vaule them and treasure them, but recognise that you controal them, they do not have to control you.

Ah but see this is one of the reasons. I like her even though she is my sister, not because I have to but because I choose to. Because she is the kind of person I want in my life not because I feel I have to.

Ah bill.
A friend for so long. I have always admired you, not for being a rock. Thats how you are. But I admired you for the courage that you have to sometimes be able to let your guard down and lean on others for a short time. I know how hard that is for you.

Funny, what you admire I view somewhat as a weakness. A necessary one at times. Just short times....

of course, women like weakness in men. To quote from Cryponomicon: "'She knows you are weak' Attorney Alejandro says, and winks. 'She smells your vulnerability." So as I work on showing that more often, maybe again sometime in the next 5 years as opposed to nearly 10 this time, who knows what will happen.

I do find it curious though, that in two of my roughest patches of life(one senior year of high school, one more recently) it was you or your sister there at a time I needed. Partly coincidence, partly just luck on timing and location.

Just some late night ponderings that really don't amount to anything I think.

And because you think of it as a weakness, but still recognise that it is necessairy and do not fault it in others, that is why it is one of the things I admire about you.

Isnt that what it means to really be friends? To have people who can be there even if you dont see eachother all the time?

Friends.... too many definitions in such a small little word.

Best way I know to be a friend, is to understand that everyone gets one major, massive flaw. Just one. Not forgiving that, but just accepting that as part of who they are.

Also, my birthday is a month away. Yours is tomorrow I think, but I've always trailed behind you in that regard.

You are a very strong person. You have been through a lot in your life and yet you still trust people and live each day. You do it so quietly, not looking for other people for confomation or applause for doing it. You just do. I think that it is easy to overlook the amazing things that you do each day.

Beth, I have known you a long time. In that time we have both changed a whole lot. I hope mostly for the better :)

Ben you are great and you dont even know it. I adore you because you still try and learn to trust people. Its hard letting people in because they do hurt you sometimes and people can dissapoint you some times. With how your life was I dont think I Could blame you if you chose to run away and hide on a moutin away from the world. And yet you are trying not to do that. The effort is why I admore you. Not your sucess, because sucess and failer happes, but I admire the effort and the wilingness to hurt that you show . The bravery to keep trying.
